Identifying Foods That Can Trigger Migraines

Identifying Foods That Can Trigger Migraines

Among Them Are Refined Sugar, Red Wine, And Histamine-Rich Foods, Such As Fermented Foods And Seafood

Migraine can be triggered by several causes, including foods. Migraine sufferers have a sensitivity to certain foods, which usually include artificial sweeteners, refined sugar, coffee, alcohol, and processed grains. Also, chocolates and food additive such as nitrates and sulfates, which are contained within red wine. There is also sensitivity to other substances such as histamines, which are associated with the immune health central nervous system, and digestion. Histamines help control the inflammatory responses and cause contraction or dilation of the blood vessels in the body. An accumulation of histamines in the body can lead to certain reactions, such as migraine headaches. Therefore, foods rich in histamine must be prevented, such as fermented foods like sauerkraut, vinegar, yogurt, and fermented cheese. Also, there are vegetables, such as avocado, spinach and tomatoes, and seafood like shellfish or fish. Additionally, citrus fruits such as lemons, limes and oranges, dried foods like raisins or prunes, and nuts, including walnuts and cashews, and processed meats and smoked fish.
